My Story
Hello! I'm Jo-Anne Kim, born and raised in Sydney, Australia.
My journey into biblical counselling began in mid-2000, when I moved to Los Angeles, California. The ministry in a cross-cultural setting was a challenging season. In addition, the 2008 global financial crisis greatly impacted communities and families and was heavy with heartbreak and uncertainty.
As I sought to be better equipped to serve others, I was drawn into biblical counselling—a path that has gently reshaped how to best care for and walk alongside people in times of difficulties.
My hope is that our conversations unfold the grace, comfort, and steady hope in Christ to sustain you through your most uncertain and challenging seasons.
In addition to counselling, a special part of my week is teaching Scripture at a local high school.
Philosophy and Approach
In our beautiful yet broken world, everyday pressures and personal and relationship trials can have a profound impact, sometimes making us feel as though life is 'on hold'.
Jesus knows and cares for the details in the challenges we face.
I believe in the sufficiency of the Bible, which reveals God's plan, purpose and glory through His Son, Jesus Christ. Through the lens of Scripture, we learn who God is and His presence through a loving, transformative relationship with Christ. My counselling approach considers the whole person—body, soul and relationships—created in the image of God and greatly loved by God.
Providing a professional, welcoming, and compassionate space is the highest priority in all counselling conversations.
